The more detailed embarrassment survey

The actual question was

This is to determine the feel of the (admittedly mainly left wing following me) populus.

The Libs have been in power for 50 days. Which of the following things have embarrassed you? (note, embarrassment and laughing at are not mutually exclusive)

And the punters said

My thoughts

And the list continues.  Such a very very very long list.

Wallpaper

The actual question

So, I was watching Wallace and Grommit last night, and got wallpaper inspired. You know how they all have wallpaper that matches their greatest love (bones/fish/knitting/cheese).
So, if I were to put wallpaper in MY room, what should it be...

And the punters said

My thoughts

Believe it or not, naked men on the walls really wouldn't be my cup of tea at all.

Dammit, Abbott, stop embarrassing us

The actual question was

So today we find out that Mr Abbott said, in the International Press, that the former government was "Wacko" and "I thought it was the most incompetent and untrustworthy government in modern Australian history". That's right, in the international press (Washington Post, to be precise". That on top of saying a UN representative was "talking through her hat" and that any connection between major bushfires in October and Climate change is "absolute hogwash". And insulting Indonesia. And Russia. And...

God it's is only 50 days in.

This reminds me of how deeply embarrassed I was the last time the Libs were in government, especially with their lies about children overboard, and their blatant stirring up of Xenophobia to win votes.

So... am I alone.

Do you find yourself embarrassed when the Libs are in government?

And the punters said

If you have that abbott-image-replace thing on, clicking should show you reponses

My thoughts

Believe it or not, he's gotten worse since.  His arrogance and contempt both for Australians and the international community knows now bounds

public transport

The actual question

When you catch public transport, especially during peak hour, do you have to repress the urges to shout "Move over you rude gits!" to the entire carriage/bus?

And the punters said

My thoughts

On trains in Sydney now, they have "fast track platforms" with lots of comments over the airwaves like "Please stand away from the doors to let people get off quicker. Don't try to get on before people have finished getting off.  If you are getting off at this station, please move towards the doors.  If you are not, please move away from the doors".  I could never be a cityrail announcer.  I'd be all "STOP being stupid gits, and use your brains!!"

When is the afternoon?

The actual question

You ring someone (you don't live with) at 11am, and say you'll be home in about 90 minutes. They say "OK, see you this afternoon."

When do you expect to see them?

And the punters said

My thoughts

I reckon 3ish is pushing it.  After that it is getting more towards evening (they turned up at 6)

Let us discuss Lettuce

The actual question

I just had a rather delicious salad for lunch (lettuce, cheese, cucumber, avocado, capsicum, celery, chick peas, honey mustard dressing) and it got me contemplating about the various types of lettuce. And, what with being salad weather and all, what is your preferred leafy basis...

And the punters said

My thoughts

Look, daggy as it is, iceberg is, and always will be, "real lettuce" for me.  I mean, I eat the other stuff, but when I think of lettuce, it's iceberg.

Earl Grey Tea is an abomination

The actual question

Is the belief that Jean-Luc Picard drinks "Earl Grey Tea - Hot" really derive from an attempt by the Romulans to discredit the Federation through smearing the reputation of one of its most well known captains?

And the punters said

My thoughts:

Bah!  Fools. The Romulans have mind washed you.  Go and bath in bergamot ergh, blah yuck
